The Second Joint Academic Conference was held at Pukyong National University, Korea

Nagoya City University and Pukyong National University concluded an academic exchange agreement last year. At the same time, an inter-institutional agreement was also established between the Institute of Studies in Humanities and Cultures at Nagoya City University and the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at Pukyong National University.

On April 2–3, 2026, the Second Joint Academic Conference was held at Pukyong National University in Korea as part of this inter-institutional exchange. The conference was organized under the theme, “Envisioning the Future from Local Memories: Expanding Japan–Korea Local Studies,” and provided an opportunity to further develop academic collaboration between us.

Based on the above agreements, Nagoya City University and Pukyong National University have been promoting collaboration in both research and education. At this conference, researchers from both Japan and Korea presented on a wide range of topics related to regional studies. Lively discussions took place on subjects such as regional history and memory, urban experiences, linguistic landscapes, dialects, and cultural practices, fostering mutual understanding across disciplines and exploring new possibilities for collaboration.

In addition to academic exchange, the visit also included discussions with the Office of International Affairs at Pukyong National University, where information was shared on future prospects for student exchange and institutional collaboration. This visit provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen cooperative ties not only in research but also in education and international exchange.

Nagoya City University will be continuing to promote international academic collaboration and expand its research network through ongoing exchange with Pukyong National University.
