Outline

This graduate course begins with acquiring basic knowledge of theories and technologies related to natural, mathematical and information sciences for the purpose of elucidating unsolved life- and material-related phenomena. Students are provided with the knowledge and research experience that allow them to contribute to the progress of science and technology in the future. This course program emphasizes interdisciplinary sciences that are indispensable for solving complicated problems that emerge in the 21st century, and the realization of a sustainable society.
This graduate course admits students having various skills and backgrounds from all over the country, including working people and students from overseas. In order for working students to manage both their work and their studies, the course provides a day and evening lecture system and an extended-year course system. As of April 2019, new students will be eligible for a high school specialized teacher?s license (science), which will support high school teachers in upskilling. For students from overseas countries, in addition to being regular graduate students, a foreign research student system provides opportunities to receive education in this course together with reduced admission fees and tuition fees.

Master's Program in Information and Basic Science

The program emphasizes the fusion between information and basic sciences for developing new fields between established sciences.

The specialized subjects are divided into the following two groups:
  • Biological Science
  • Mathematical and Material Sciences

Ph. D. Program in Information and Basic Science

The program aims to provide a very high level of academic research and education, in which students observe and/or analyze complicated biological and material phenomena from macroscopic and microscopic standpoints to understand the dynamics of the fundamental processes as an information system.

The specialized subjects are divided into the following two groups:
  • Biological Science
  • Mathematical and Material Sciences
