With the aim of promoting interdisciplinary and fusional research activities including basic medical research toward solutions to advanced and high-need research challenges, the Institute of Brain Science was established in October 2019 by reorganizing the Institute of Molecular Medicine established in 1987.
The institute promotes cutting-edge research aiming to elucidate brain functions and overcome cranial nerve diseases such as dementia and developmental disorders across six fields - neurotoxicology, neurodevelopmental and regenerative medicine, dementia science, neurodevelopmental genetics, Neuro-oncology and Department of Cognitive Function and Pathology
